Senior Spotlight: Dreama Weber

This week’s senior spotlight is Dreama Weber from Kansas City, Missouri! Dreama is a nutrition and fitness major and going to graduate school next year!

2016 exec on bid day

Bid Day 2016

Dreama chose to come to the University of Missouri because of the school’s appreciation for traditions. “I grew up coming down for football games, especially homecoming! We would come the night before, and walk through Greek Town hitting all of my aunts’, uncles’, cousins’ and dad’s chapter’s house decks”, she states.

As far as signing up for recruitment, she signed up almost immediately. “Through multiple rounds of recruitment, I finally made it home to Alpha Chi, which happens to also be one of my favorite aunt’s chapter. Alpha Chi has been one of the best things that I have gotten to be a part of during my time at Mizzou”, Dreama reflects on her recruitment experience. As an Alpha Chi, Dreama has made her impact. Her sophomore/junior year, Dreama was the chapters PanHellenic Delegate.

pha delegates 2016

Dreama with the other chapter’s panhellenic delegates

As the delegate, she was able to meet and befriend a girl from all of the other chapters on campus. Not only was Dreama on the executive board, but she also has participated in Alpha Chi’s dance groups for Homecoming, RAMS and Greek Week. This year she has had the tradition, of coordinating dance, passed down to her and Allie Black. When asked about her favorite part of dance, Dreama says, “I think taking second in homecoming sophomore year was pretty cool, especially because dance got the best choreography award. We also won RAMS Rock-It my sophomore year and I got to celebrate that with my grand-big (and one of my favorite people) Erin!”

rams 2017

2017 RAMS performance

Her executive position eventually led Dreama to apply and become a Pi Chi for the 2017 recruitment year. “A cool part of my Pi Chi experience, is that I got to share the adventure with my little. Being a Pi Chi allowed me to fall in love with Alpha Chi all over again. I can honestly say, the best part about being in Alpha Chi is the friendships I have made, my favorite being my pledge family. Love you Alex, Lexi, and Dana!”, Dreama states about her experience as a Pi Chi.

Post-graduation, Dreama hopes to go to graduate school at one of the universities she has applied to. When asked what she will miss about Alpha Chi, Dreama says, “As for Alpha Chi, I will miss coming to the house and just hanging out, or eating lunch. It is so nice to have a place on campus that I can crash at between classes. It is also the perfect way for me to keep up to date on the lives of my sisters. Some of my favorite memories are just hanging around the house, especially when my little lived in and we could just watch Netflix and catch up during our busy weeks. My little and grand-little have really become more like family than just friends and I love it! I think I will miss them the most!”

Dreama has really become a real strong woman. “Alpha Chi has given me the chance to become the best version of myself. I can see a change and growth in myself since I joined freshman year. Alpha Chi has made me a more confident person and allowed me to have deeper friendships. I know I can try for anything because my sisters will be there to support me in whatever I do”, Dreama reflects as an Alpha Chi. She encourages other Alpha Chi Omega women to take advantage of their time as a collegiate Alpha Chi, to meet everyone possible and to patriciate in everything that Alpha Chi offers.

Big Little Reveal

On September 21, 2017, Alpha Chi Omega had big little reveal! All week long, the new members of Alpha Chi were showered with gifts! Littles found gifts in the formal room placed by their secret big! On the big reveal day, all of the “families” hiked over to the quad in front of the famous Mizzou columns. Every little had a box and a t-shirt to match her “big” who was inside the box waiting to surprise her!

Picture1.png

It was the perfect way to end the week after misleading clues and a boat load of canvases to decorate blank dorm walls. When the countdown was up, the bigs popped out of their boxes to reveal themselves to their babies. Balloons, confetti, and laughs filled the quad as Greek families celebrated.

Sister Showcase: Madeline Koerner

Our sister showcase this week is Madeline Koerner, a Junior International Business major from Clayton, MO!

19642572_10207701621613658_7666980060816441079_n

When Madeline transferred to Mizzou her sophomore year, she knew right from the beginning she wanted to get involved and Alpha Chi was the first step on her new journey! Madeline says, “Being a transfer student and starting somewhere new was pretty scary at first and Alpha Chi made me feel so much more at home within Mizzou.”

15972725_10208312243980304_1722799548005395189_o

Madeline and MAB group

So far, one of Madeline’s favorite Mizzou memories was participating on a Mizzou Alternative Break trip, where she got to work with children. She found out about the trip through her sisters in Alpha Chi! “These kids didn’t have the best home life and it really showed me how much we take for granted,” Madeline reflected.

After graduation, Madeline hopes to travel the world and then settle down in a big city as a retail buyer. She already has experience studying abroad traveling alone to Europe this past summer. She aspires to continue her love of traveling and fashion no matter where she ends up in living.

Madeline loves to read (favorites being Agatha Christie and Jane Austen), sing, play the guitar, and re-work vintage clothes to make an entirely new style and look. She also has a passion for health and nutrition. After being a vegetarian for almost two years, she finds it important that people know and understand what we put into our bodies.

Her parents are a huge inspiration in Madeline’s life. They have both influence her love for travel and experiencing different cultures. Madeline said, “I am very similar to my mom, she has always taught me to take risks and really chase after my dreams. My dad has taught me the more logistical side of things. He has always encouraged me to think about “the big picture”. The balance of their advice has taught me to take certain risks but always remain focused. They are both so supportive and kind-hearted and I don’t know what I would do without them.”

One of Madeline’s favorite quotes is by Theodore Roosevelt which says, “Do what you can with what you have, where you are.” Madeline believes it represents herself in college, as well as “every broke college student that still works their booty off no matter how much you’re struggling.”

Our Sister Showcase this week is Kinzie Frey. Kinzie is a strategic communications major from Fort Meyers, Florida.

19260791_1421891047905948_7216125868894146711_n

Kinzie serves on Alpha Chi Omega’s Executive Board as Vice President of New Member Education. Kinzie also accomplished being on the Greek Week winning dodgeball team and was awarded Alpha Chi Omega’s Chapter of the Year Award while serving on exec. When Kinzie is not working to make Alpha Chi the best chapter, you can find her playing sports, writing, spending time with her “homies” and surfing with her mother.

17388878_1341930312520742_8171439521501421502_o

Alpha Chi Omega’s 2017 Executive Board

A fun fact about Kinzie is that she is the most devoted member of Alpha Chi Omega -to prove it she has an Alpha Chi lip tattoo and was featured on total sorority move.

After graduation Kinzie hopes to move to Chicago because she feels that her heart belongs in the Midwest and obtain a job working for an advertising agency. Kinzie hopes to eventually work for the Cubs and marry Kris Bryant.

Kinzie looks forward to her future stating, “I hope to one day be happy with the life I am living. I want to explore the world and push myself beyond my limits because you only get so much time on this earth so live it up and stay present in every moment. “

Kinzie names her mother as being the most influential person in her life.  Kinzie admires, “If it wasn’t for my amazing mother I wouldn’t be the person I am today. She inspires me everyday to live life to the fullest and conquer my fears. She is my whole world and she is the bravest woman I know. I live everyday to be more like her.”

Kinzie’s favorite Alpha Chi memory is living in house. Kinzie adored living with her pledge class and created friendships that will last a lifetime at 900 Richmond Avenue. “I loved mattress surfing the stairs, endless bowls of cereal in the kitchen, hallway dodgeball and all the other things we came up with to cure our boredom,” Kinzie reminisced

Kinzie and Erin hugging it out

When it comes to Alpha Chi, the sister that has had the biggest impact on Kinzie is Erin Friesen. Kinzie explains, “Erin showed me what it means to have a best friend. There is never a dull moment with Erin. From our one on one basketball games in our room to nights filled with tears she has been my person through all of college. She truly is the best example of what it means to be an Alpha Chi. “

Kinzie promotes Alpha Chi Omega everyday by remembering that she is always wearing her letters. Kinzie carries herself in a way that earns the respect of all her sisters. Kinzie said, “My favorite of our values is character. I think it is extremely important as Alpha Chi’s to show that the person we are in our everyday lives is a person who we are proud of.”

Kinzie’s favorite line of symphony is “To shed the light of love and friendship around me.” Kinzie believes that this line of symphony describes what Alpha Chi Omega is all about. “We all have so much love for each other just because we are sisters. I truly think our sisterhood is what makes us unique.”

Kinzie leaves us with her favorite quote from the book Little Bee: “A scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, I survived.”

Senior Spotlight: Amanda McVicker

This week’s senior spotlight is Amanda McVicker, a food science in nutrition major from Algonquin, Illinois.

13164267_1163546390323866_5457160977151574751_n

Amanda on left with sister, Brie Immerman.

When Amanda was applying for schools, she was only interested in attending an SEC school, Mizzou was recently added to the SEC at the time and Amanda was encouraged to consider it by her father. Amanda didn’t really want to visit Mizzou. She thought Missouri was just like Illinois except without Chicago (the best part, so why would anyone want to live there? Despite already having her mind made up, Amanda fell in love with Mizzou’s campus on her tour. Amanda reflects, “I remember standing in the rec center when they told me they had a spa I just thought, “okay, I’m 100% going here”. Which, retrospectively, is a silly reason to pick a college but I’m so happy every day I came to Mizzou.”

AB

Amanda’s biggest accomplishment at Mizzou was being on Alpha Chi Omega’s Executive Board, while taking online classes and working full time at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis. Amanda explains, “I was originally told there was no way the chapter would allow me to do a co-op and be on exec at the same time, but with a lot of time management and my awesome recruitment team I was so happy to say we were able to pull off one of our most successful recruitments our chapter had seen in years. I also had a great time coordinating our recruitment video.”

A big draw to Mizzou for Amanda was its huge Greek life! Amanda only knew a few girls form high school that attended Mizzou and had gone Greek, so essentially she knew nothing about formal recruitment. “I really loved Alpha Chi even from the first day, a good friend of mine Abby Yonker, was someone I had always admired as was an AXO at Texas Christan University so I knew from the start to keep an eye out for them. On the first day at Alpha Chi I got a chance to talk to the Vice President of Recruitment at the time Rachel Taylor, we bonded over the fact that I did not know what a “monogram” was, which is super funny if you know me now (I have about 10 monogrammed items in my room). On sisterhood round, I met my big Kelsey Jackson, we talked about weird family stories and after that, I pretty much knew I wanted to be an Alpha Chi, it was the place I felt I could be myself the most.”

pastedImage

Amanda with Rachel Taylor

Amanda’s favorite part of being an Alpha Chi is the lifelong connection with thousands of women she has never met. Amanda is always surprised with how much she has in common with women who are Alpha Chi’s regardless of the school they attend college. “Also, getting to share being an Alpha Chi with my cousin Nikki McVicker has been truly amazing. Nikki and I have always acted more like sisters than cousins and it’s nice to say now we always will be.”

IMG_0041

Amanda with her cousin/sister, Nikki McVicker.

Alpha Chi Omega has helped Amanda transform into a real strong woman by helping her develop into a leader, rather than a follower. In high school Amanda just wanted to blend in with everyone else and never wanted to make her own decisions. The girls in Alpha Chi Omega encouraged Amanda to take on challenges she never thought she would be able to do.

After graduation, Amanda will be working with a company called Sensient in St. Louis as an applications technologist where she will make the colors that go into food, clothing, and cosmetics. Amanda will be living with some of the same Alpha Chi’s that lived in the five man suite with her two years ago! Amanda is excited to be living in St. Louis, but would really love to live somewhere she hasn’t already lived, like North Carolina or New York. Amanda would eventually like to move back home to Chicago. As far as career goals go Amanda desires to move into flavor science where she will make flavor additives for food products. Amanda also loves the idea of possibly going back to school to teach food science at a University.

17202820_10155037125418536_2588580867085198309_n

Amanda will miss the sense of community at Mizzou. Amanda describes, “Starting over is always really hard, though I am lucky where a lot of my close friends are going to be near me in St. Louis it’s going to be hard not to go to the house for lunch every week and see tons of familiar friendly faces.”

Amanda’s biggest piece of advice for her younger sisters is: “Say yes more than no. College is a lot about balance and I was not always the best at it. I spent a lot of time cooped up dorm freshman year studying when I should have been out experiencing college. Obviously, you came to college to get an education but you came to Mizzou for the experience and that’s just as important.”

For possible job opportunities and connections, alumna can contact Amanda at anmwx7@gmail.com or 815-355-9180.

Amanda, we are going to miss you so much, but know you will do amazing things! Good luck and know that you always have a home at Alpha Chi Omega!

Gabby’s hobbies include being social chair and recruitment assistant for Alpha Chi and watching Netflix. Gabby feels like she stands out because of her blonde, curly hair. Gabby states, “You can spot me a mile away because of my hair.”

Gabby’s favorite Alpha Chi memory was recruitment her sophomore year. “I became so close to many of the older girls in the house who I didn’t know before because of recruitment. It was also awesome seeing all of the new Alpha Chi babies come home including my little, Kendall, who I wanted from the very first day of open house,” Gabby reflects.

Gabby’s favorite Mizzou memory was living in Lathrop freshman year. Gabby says, “I became super close with my friends who lived there with me and I wouldn’t have known them if it were not for Alpha Chi.

15676183_1300718839986841_3235710689568178170_o

Gabby thanks her mom for being the most influential person in her life. Gabby explains, “My mom is insanely strong, I cant imagine all of the things she’s gone through, including raising me, which was probably a nightmare!”

Meredith Caldwell has made the biggest impact on Gabby in college. Meredith always checked up on Gabby her freshman year to make sure she was doing alright in college. Gabby will miss Meredith a ton after she graduates!

Gabby promotes Alpha Chi by always trying to be of help to others and Gabby is always making decisions that would make the Alpha Chi Omega Chapter proud!

Mom’s Weekend

On the weekend of April 7, the mothers of Alpha Chi Omega came to visit their daughters for a weekend filled of fun.

17862638_1293739604007730_5956472749640315057_n

Mom’s Weekend kicked off on Friday night with canvas painting at the student center! Instructors from Paint the Town came in to teach everyone how to paint a fun spring scene of flowers and a dragonfly. The mothers and daughters loved spending time together as well as showing off their artistic skills.

17862585_1362830067097433_7706189993539957250_n

The main event on Saturday took place at The Roof on top of the Broadway Hotel, which was a change from the Canterbury Hill Winery tradition in years past. It was a beautiful, sunny day filled with awesome company and great conversation. The moms and daughters enjoyed plenty of delicious appetizers and had many fun drinks to choose from.

Throughout the day, many moms donated baskets filled with goodies to be bid on. The basket auction raised over $3000, which will go towards Alpha Chi Omega’s social fund. Kendra Scott also held a pop up table at The Roof, and 20% of sales from the day were donated to True North!

17861865_1430345743652672_6888128454953942425_n

Sunday began with a delicious brunch at the house and ended with a visit from the insanely popular Luke Pell from JoJo Fletcher’s season on the Bachelorette.

Mom’s weekend was an amazing success. A HUGE thank you goes out to Sarah Jaeger and her committee for pulling off such a fantastic weekend. Everyone had a blast!

Senior Spotlight: Baylee Cummins

The senior showcase this week is Baylee Cummins from Carver, Minnesota! Baylee is double majoring in strategic communication journalism and Spanish and is a business minor.

15039460_10209043608780830_1916432915164675312_o
Baylee first came to Mizzou determined to go into the field of broadcast journalism. Shortly into her experience at the journalism school, she learned about each emphasis that the journalism school offered and discovered that broadcast journalist students were expected to be at the station before the sun rises. Baylee came to the realization that broadcast was not for her at this point. Already a dedicated, passionate Spanish student, Baylee wanted to find her home in the journalism school. Being very creative and artsy, Baylee fit right in the strategic communications emphasis area. Since then, Baylee has continued to pursue a Bachelor of Arts and Science – Spanish Language and a Bachelor of Journalism. Through the University of Missouri School of journalism Baylee has had the opportunity to work and design for major clients like the St. Louis Cardinals and Fox Sports Midwest. Currently, Baylee is hunting for a career where she can incorporate as much of her education as possible. If you would like to see some of Baylee’s current work you can visit her website at  www.bayleemarie.com.

Baylee and Brie

Baylee’s Alpha Chi story was nothing far from fate. Baylee and her roommate, Brie Immerman, were two of three students attend Mizzou from her suburban high school in Minnesota. Both Baylee and Brie knew little to nothing about the recruitment process (except for the pamphlet they were sent). When the girls moved into their dorm – Excellence – a week before classes, they were ready to spend the next six days talking to endless awesome women.  Baylee is not a soft-spoken person, so besides the rain and blisters, she actually enjoyed her recruitment experience. “I had no idea where I wanted to be and I tried to trust my Pi Chi’s when they told me to “trust the system.” My roommate and I were pretty good at not influencing each other’s decisions too much, but the night before bid day we were engulfed with the idea that we could potentially be sisters. They counted down from 10 and I nervously opened my envelope. At first, I was so confused to see ‘Alpha Nu’ as the first word on my bid card, but I quickly saw Alpha Chi Omega and sprinted toward the letters I was dreaming of reading the night before. And then I saw my roommate, Brie Immerman, standing in front of the same letters. Four years later and I am still so thankful that we became forever tied by the bond of Alpha Chi Omega,” Baylee reflected.

Baylee and sisters at Initiation

During Baylee’s sophomore year in Alpha Chi Omega she had an amazing time recruiting a whole new class of Alpha Chi’s, one of which was her amazing and beautiful little Ari. Baylee states,Having a little (and now a huge AXO family) has been an incredible part of this sisterhood.”

Baylee’s junior year, she had the astounding opportunity to be a Panhellenic Counselor (Pi Chi). “I had to disaffiliate from Alpha Chi for a couple of months, in order to be able to help guide the Potential New Members (PNM’s) to their perfect sisterhood. My experience as a Pi Chi was one of my most cherished memories of my time at Mizzou.”

14079606_1245431785467480_7538915351370653365_n

Senior girls on Bid Day

Finally, Baylee’s senior recruitment experience may have been the craziest of all. After being elected Bid Day chair by her sisters, Baylee was in charge of planning the biggest celebration of the year. “It was an incredible feeling to know that I was able to plan a day that had meant so much to me just a few years before. Our theme was “You have been chosen to be forever golden” and, with help from so many amazing sisters, it turned out better than I could have ever imagined.”

One of the things Baylee will miss most about Alpha Chi Omega is dance. Baylee has participated in every Homecoming, RAMS, and Greek Week performances for the past four years. This year as a senior, Baylee had the opportunity to direct all of the dances. “Shout out to all the girls that have been through this dance experience with me, I will never forget some of our accomplishments.”

The 2017 RAMS Dance Team led by Baylee

Baylee leaves us with some advice for her younger sisters: Although it may sound cliché, live in every single moment college has to offer you. At the end of senior year, you will look back and be blown away at what you have accomplished and the relationships you have formed, so live and breathe every moment in and don’t wish it away.”

Baylee we are so luck to have such a determined, innovative, confident sister! Good luck in all of your future endeavors and know you always have a home at AXO!!!

Please feel free to contact Baylee about any of her experiences at Mizzou or with job advice/inquiries at baylee.cummins@gmail.com.

Sisterhood Showcase: Julia Saak

This week’s sisterhood showcase is Julia Saak, a sophomore, from St. Louis, Missouri! Julia is a dual degree student, majoring in both Spanish and health science, and is minoring in psychology.

11220817_889615694434777_7963196681470848812_nJulia’s dream job is a pediatric surgeon. After graduation, Julia hopes to attend Mizzou’s medical school. Julia explains, “My dad attended Mizzou’s medical school, so it would mean a lot to me if I went to the same school as him.” In addition to being a distinguished surgeon, Julia also desires to have a family one day.

Even being extremely involved around campus, Julia has maintained her 4.0 GPA and she just received a $4,500 scholarship to study abroad in Oviedo, Spain this summer, taking six credits of Spanish classes while there. Julia is also in the honors college and is Alpha Chi Omega’s Vice President of Finance (We can thank her for making the printer free)!

17157415_1263690170344818_2322026930876055541_o

Julia with members of the Newman Center!

When Julia isn’t studying, you can find her horseback riding, walking dogs at the Humane Society (or visiting her own dog at home), reading, participating at the Newman Center, or spending time with her sisters! An interesting fact about Julia is that she holds the record for the most times a rider has fallen off a horse in one day – she has fallen off eight times to be exact!

At first Julia did not want to attend Mizzou. Being from St. Louis, Julia did not want to go to a college where everyone from her large public high school went. However, when Julia toured Mizzou with her mother she realized how wrong she was not to consider it just because it was a popular school. As for Alpha Chi Omega, Julia loved our sorority from the get-go. “I spent all of recruitment just waiting to come back, and I was thrilled when I opened my envelope on Bid Day and it said Alpha Chi Omega! I’ve never once regretted my decision,” states Julia.

17358907_1367462563316752_4025291876182593109_o

Alpha Chi Omega’s Executive Board

Julia’s favorite Alpha Chi Memory is being elected the Vice President of Finance! Julia reflected, “I was so nervous the entire day before I gave my speech, and when I found out that night that the chapter had voted me into the position, I was over the moon. Going out to breakfast with the new Executive Board after we all found out that we were elected is the most excited I’ve ever been to put in so much work! I was nervous for what was to come, but being able to celebrate with everyone made it a day to remember. Being on the Executive Board has made me a more effective leader, and taught me how to stand up for what I believe in.”

The Alpha Chi that has had the biggest impact on Julia is Cassidy Garling. Julia credits Cassidy with pushing her to become better leader and person. “Cassidy is the sweetest person, and she makes everyone that she talks to feel important and valued. She never lets me doubt myself, and encourages me to put myself out there. She’s one of those people that will be for you no matter what time it is, no matter how busy she is.”

15036473_1127724097324511_1204105165124999629_n

Julia promotes Alpha Chi everyday by helping others whenever possible – wearing her letters or not, Julia always puts her best foot forward. Julia’s favorite line of symphony is “To shed the light of love and friendship round me” Julia explains, “I believe that you should always leave people better than you found them, and always spread love to everyone you meet. Life is too short to be anything other than happy. You never know what kind of difference you can make in someone else’s life.”

Julia is very passionate about helping and being an advocate for animals, specifically dogs. Julia volunteers her time at the Humane Society for two hours a week. At the shelter the dogs spend a lot of time in their cages and don’t get a lot of exercise, so Julia tries to walk and play with dogs every time she is volunteering. “I wholeheartedly believe in punishing those who mistreat animals, and I try to work towards preventing animal abuse. My dog is the most loving and trusting animal, and it would break my heart if anything ever happened to him.”

The most influential person in Julia’s life is her mother.  Julia describes her mother as her rock. “I tend to overload myself and get stressed out too easily. My mom always brings me back to earth and reminds me that it’s okay to take a break, and that it’s okay to make mistakes – it just means you’re human.”

17757623_10154149928566116_747542485351330772_n

Julia’s favorite quote is: “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”

Julia, we are so lucky to have you as a sister! You are so passionate, intelligent, kind, and driven and we can see those characteristics in everything you do. We know you will positively influence so many lives being a pediatric surgeon and wish you the best of luck in Spain this summer!

Sister Showcase: Rachel Quist

This week’s Sister Showcase is sophomore, Rachel Quist! Rachel is a nursing major from Minnetonka, Minnesota. Rachel’s dream job is to work with young children or babies as a nurse practitioner.

15380285_10207986264361469_6672287908394880626_n

Rachel’s biggest accomplishment is getting accepted into Mizzou’s prestigious nursing school. Rachel states, “I’m really excited to start nursing school in the fall.” In her spare time, Rachel loves to volunteer as a dance teacher at the Boys and Girls Club. An interesting fact about Rachel is that she has a sister adopted from China named Faith!

Rachel’s favorite Mizzou memory is becoming a member of Alpha Chi. Rachel reflects, “I found my home and all my friends here. I am from Minnesota, so I didn’t know many people at Mizzou and the campus seemed so big. Alpha Chi has helped me reach out and get involved in many things that I would never have known about. It has helped me learn more about how to be successful in my major and has given me lifelong friends.”

In Alpha Chi, Rachel’s favorite memory is getting a little this past fall. “My little, Alayna Blake, is my now current best friend. I met her on the first day of school in one of my classes and we immediately clicked. I was her TA for microbiology and from the first week of school I knew that I needed her as my little. I tried to trick her throughout the week, leaving clues that didn’t point her to me at all. On Big/Little reveal I was so happy to jump out of that box and add her to my pledge family. We have grown to become best friends and we hang out every single day,” Rachel describes her relationship with her little.

Rachel thanks Colleegn Fagan for being the Alpha Chi who has made the biggest impact on her. “Colleegn has taught me everything I know about how to be successful as a pre-nursing student. She also helped me with my resume and interview process for the nursing school, ultimately helping me get accepted. She has always been my rock and go-to girl and I am so thankful and proud that I can call her my friend. I can’t imagine where I would be without her.”

Rachel PACEs by getting involved on campus in a broad range of different clubs and organizations such as nursing associations and Omicron Delta Kappa Distinguished 14 Freshman. Her favorite line of the symphony is “To see beauty even in the common things in life” because being college students we seem to get into an everyday routine and forget about the little things that make life beautiful.

Rachel’s favorite quote is, “Sometimes God brings us into troubled waters not to drown us but to cleanse us.” Rachel likes this quote because it helps her get through challenges in her life knowing that everything happens for a reason and that no challenge is too big for her overcome. Rachel names her mother as the most influential person in her life. Rachel explains, “My mom constantly does it all without ever complaining or showing weakness. She is a working mother and has never failed to prove to me that I can do so much more than I can imagine. She has the kindest heart and shows it to everyone she meets.”
